Den Head Graphic

Nurses at Johnson's Tulsa office last week uncovered a stash of 148 Polaroids depicting young girls performing oral sex on the dentist, according to police. The girls, who look as young as 4 and as old as 16, are seated in a dental chair with their eyes covered by cloth. Tulsa County District Attorney Chuck Richardson said Wednesday that the photographs show anaesthetized and semiconscious girls performing oral sex on a man identified as Johnson by his clothes and wedding ring. "This is someone who's taken an oath to protect and serve the public through dentistry, and he has violated every ethical, social, moral rule that there is," Richardson said. Johnson's wife, Kathryn J. Johnson, returned to Tulsa with the couple's daughters, ages 6, 13 and 16, and filed for divorce Monday. She did not return a telephone message Wednesday. Hundreds of parents have called the county Victim Witness Center to find out whether their daughters are among about 40 victims suspected of being photographed by Johnson. Rusti Brinkley, the center's director, said callers were being asked what their children look like, dates of appointments and whether nurses were present. Authorities believe most of the pornography occurred on afternoons while Johnson was working alone. The alleged use of powerful anesthetic may mean that victims don't know they have been violated, Ms. Brinkley said. "I don't know if these kids even realize something happened," she said. The FBI joined the search for Johnson, labeling him a fugitive. County deputies asked the U.S. Border Patrol to watch out for him. The Oklahoma Board of Dentistry has suspended his license.

TULSA, Okla. (August 6, 1998 10:30 a.m. EDT http://www.nandotimes.com) -- Authorities were looking for a dentist accused of drugging, blindfolding and then photographing dozens of his young female patients in sexually explicit positions. Dr. Donald C. Johnson, 47, was vacationing with his wife and three daughters in Estes Park, Colo., when he was charged Friday with producing pornography. Authorities say Johnson fled in a rental car after learning of the investigation.
