the grief is there 
washing through me 
reminding me 
of my own mortality 

Reminding me 
that they are 
no longer there 
snuffed out 
in the blink of an eye 

I can see shadows 
and hear voices 
talking with them 
as they pass on 
going to the point 
of rebirth 

But it doesn't 
quell the pain 
and the loss 

To all of you 
that pass before me 
I hope you realize 
how much you meant 
and continue to mean 
to me in this life 

I am enriched 
by all of my friends 
and the loss 
is sometimes 
more than I think I can bear 

And I will always 
remember 
our times together
