I walk to the window arms encircling my heart
as I throw open the shades
shielding me
my feelings
my life

I cry for those things
those people
left in the past
that could've been
and never were

emptiness cloaks me
from everyone around me
because of their fear
that I'm contagious
that my heartbroken sadness
is catching

I'm drowning
in a sea of hopelessness
lonliness my only companion
through the dark restless nights
where my soul
sits at the keyboard
and pours out emotion
and pain
onto the keys of my life

My story
not so plain to see
changes from time to time
person to person
but the circle always leaves me here
dying
alone

Until I'm ready to face the world
the hurt
and anger again...
