I feel a slight jolt 
as our hands 
touch in passing 

The contact may seem slight 
but to me, it is electric 
a feeling that shoots 
straight to my toes 
I am lost 

He makes his way 
through the sea of people 
slowly, purposefully 
striding towards me 
with a smile 
and his hand outstretched 

We meet in a warm embrace 
I feel completely secure 
completely safe 
being held in his arms 

We talk of things 
both inane and wondrous 

It's as if we're old friends 
meeting again 
for the first time in years... 

Time passes in bliss 
we are happy with each other 
we need nothing else 
but to feel one another's presence 
and all is set right again. 

And then the dream ends, 
I wake to an empty bed 
and fervent thoughts 
that maybe someday, 
he'll be there when I wake up...
