It seems so long already 
and I ache to have it back 
but there is a certainty in my heart 
that lets me know 
it will return someday 

As I look to the future 
my life alone 
although not bad, nor painful
feels empty without it 
and I ache to swim in it again 

That delicious touch 
and voice 
surrounding me 
holding me together 
when I needed it most

I can almost feel it 
in the time in between
in my dreams 

I have no regrets 
or recriminations 
because of the choice
that I have made
yet I still miss it 

And yes, I still love 
and always will 
and even if it never happens again
I'll still hold that bright, shining moment
in my soul 
and cherish it 
forever

I've never forgotten 
and I never will 

And through 
the oceans of time 
if not this time around
perhaps we'll meet 
and dance again
