I venture out from darkness
walking towards
the light of you
stepping slowly
deliberately
reaching out
to touch your life and light
hoping it will set me free
from this prison
of hatred and distrust
cobbled together
with betrayal and anger

I seek someone
to help me find my way
to keep me
from stumbling on my journey
as I walk through the blasted lands
of love decayed
and past disillusionment

I don't need a prince
or somebody to fix me
but a mate to guide me
and hold me
as I love and cherish them
reciprocation is my need
my heart's desire
to find another
who loves me
as I love them

I need a candle
in the darkness
to light my way
because the tears
I continue to cry
blur my vision
and I stumble
as I walk through life
because although I am strong
I can't do it alone...
