They haven't called
and my heart races
thinking the worst
they don't care
they don't want to
talk to me
out of anger

My pulse races
and my stomach knots up
thinking of the possibilities
all the bad things

It's been a lifetime
of hurt and rejection
to build up this defense
the wall that shuts
everybody out

Every day is a new test
am I going to
run away again
or will I turn to face my demons
and live my life

I choose to
continue the fight
to remember the love
of those around me
and kick down the wall
brick by brick
day by day

It's an eternal struggle
but I know I'll survive
with the help of my friends and family
I can defeat my own need
to sabatage my life
