Sifting through his feelings 
he doesn't have a clue 
everything's collapsing
just what is he to do 

Nobody will listen 
to his lies and fairytales 
of love and life and laughter 
real life simply pales 

The stories that he utters 
hoping they will please 
women throw them in his face 
to keep him on his knees 

He tells them pretty falsities 
he thinks they want to hear 
instead of giving up the truth 
they mustn't get too near 

For then, they start to hurt him 
and take away his life 
and all his precious privacy 
will keep him from a wife 

Consoling his own ego 
and telling it to thrive 
while all along he's killing id 
with the lie shaped like a knife 

Some day, maybe he'll wake up 
to see the harm he's done 
to those around him, those who care
he's hurting everyone 

For now, he will not see it 
nor even does he care 
for when he looks into himself 
he sees nothing there...
