What the hell was I thinking? I decided after seeing multitudes of commercials advertising Alien Resurrection that I simply MUST rush out to the theater and view this amazing spectacle in my local theaterhouse. I eagerly awaited opening day. I got in my car with my roomates, drove down to the theater for a matinee showing (thank GOD I didn't spend more than $4.75 on this 2 HOUR+ WASTE of my time) and settled in, hoping beyond hope that it would at least be comparable to Alien or Aliens. Sitting through the movie, I realized that I'd be much better off if I'd stayed home and stuck pennies in a wall socket while drinking water from a firehose...Ok, it didn't really suck THAT bad, but I was damn disappointed. What's the deal Hollywood? Why can't ANYBODY make a good high budget movie anymore?

It seems that all the great flicks that are coming out are being done either by Independant film companies, or by actors with great ideas that nobody will work with them on because they "won't be a big enough box office draw". This summer, almost NOTHING good has come from the behemoth called the movie industry. The only time I enjoy movies anymore is when I check out the local video stores and see something that I never knew existed, made by a company whose name I don't recognize at all. 

When will somebody finally start pandering to MY interests as a filmgoer, and release Buckaroo Banzai against the World Crime League? I used to enjoy movies when I was a kid, but I was dumber then and more easily entertained. Were movies always this lame? Maybe it's just the quantity versus quality thing that Major Studios have going. I'm tired of watching crap that just happened to make it to the big screen, with a major release because of some asshole marketing monkey says that it'll be a huge hit and make piles 'o money. I NEED to be entertained dammit! If I'm going to shell out money that I worked my ASS off to bring in, I want to ENJOY my moviegoing experience...Not feel like I'd rather be at the dentist undergoing a root canal with NO anesthetic. *sigh* God I'm in a crappy mood...
